What Is the Community Support Network?
The Community Support Network is a collective of community members dedicated to supporting transformative justice responses to child sexual abuse in the Bay Area. The Community Support Network include healers, criminal-legal advocates, child care providers, caregivers, educators, social justice activists, and anyone willing to be an active participant in increasing the capacity of the Bay Area to hold transformative justice responses to child sexual abuse.
What does the Community Support Network do in the Bay Area?
Members of the Community Support Network can support the BATJC Core Group by a) convening others from their field and community to learn and practice using transformative justice as a response to child sexual abuse b) leveraging resources to support the BATJC Core activities, e.g. TJ Study, etc. c) participating in providing direct services to survivors, bystanders and/or offenders before, during and after a BATJC intervention and d) support one another in building their emotional resilience to address child sexual abuse in their work and communities.
What do I commit to as a member of the Community Support Network?
As the Community Support Network grows various levels of commitment will emerge. Currently, we are looking for Anchor Members of the Community Support Network who would agree to participate in: 1) on 2 hour meeting every 2 months 2) building a 1 year, 3 year and 5 year vision for the Community Support Network 3) engaging community members, co-workers, family members to join the Community Support Network and 4) convening and participating in Transformative Justice/ Child Sexual Abuse Roundtables.
How will the BATJC support me as a member of the Community Support Network?
The BATJC will provide members of the Community Support Network free training in Transformative Justice Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and ongoing support through TJ Studies and Deeper Dive retreats. The BATJC can endorse members of the Community Support Network through the BATJC website, email requests for services and word-of-mouth referrals. The BATJC can also help establish Study Groups, Trainings and Retreats focused on Transformative Justice Responses for Child Sexual Abuse.
